Gaziantep Integrated Health Campus

Gaziantep Integrated Health Campus

Project Description
Gaziantep Health Campus as a Landscape Design Model

Gaziantep Integrated Health Campus, which will be located in the Şehitkamil district of Gaziantep Province, is one of the largest health investments in Turkey in the recent years. The facility will have 1867 beds and will six major units have comprised of a General Hospital, Cardiological Surgery and Oncology Hospitals, Obstetrics-Gynecology and Pediatric Hospitals, High Security Forensic Psychiatry Hospital, and Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital. Four towers, each with a designed entrance square, forms the basis of the project.

Considering the functions of a health campus, it was aimed to create as serene and restful spaces as possible, while constituting a strong three-dimensional impact with artificial grass hills proposed along the façade of the hospital. The underground of the entire lot the hospital is located on is designed as a closed parking lot. Because of this, almost all green areas in the project are indeed roof gardens with a maximum soil depth of 40 cm. Landscape ruptures were opened in the hard surfaces to create green areas.

The dynamic yet unified running track is the main element of the landscape decisions. The route of this track shapes around the artificial hills and over water elements, and serves the patients and visitors who would like to stay active by walking or running. The multi-purpose wooden deck over the southern pond offers the visitors a peaceful open area alternative.
